Eligibility Requirements
Enlisted Soldiers
To join the Army as an enlisted Soldier, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 17 years old (with parental consent) or 18 years old
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Meet physical and medical standards
Army Officers
To become an Army Officer, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a college degree
- Be commissioned through ROTC, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, or Officer Candidate School (OCS)

Enlisted Soldiers
To join the Army as an enlisted Soldier, you can:
- Visit your local Army recruiting office

- Go online to www.goarmy.com
Army Officers
To become an Army Officer, you can:
- Join ROTC in high school or college
- Attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point
- Apply for Officer Candidate School (OCS)
